Meet Our Facilitators

Hello everyone! I am so very excited to connect with you all through our early childhood educator support group. I wanted to share a little bit about myself prior to meeting you “face to face” on Zoom. I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) living and working primarily out of Brown County, Indiana. I graduated with my undergraduate degree in psychology and art therapy from Indiana University Bloomington and obtained my MSW through the IUPUI School of Social Work.

My full time position is managing a child and family services team through Centerstone, our local community mental health center. I also contract with Infancy Onward to provide reflective supervision groups to a variety of professionals that touch the lives of children under 6 years old. I am endorsed as an Infant Mental Health Clinical Mentor- IMH-E® and love spreading support, encouragement, community, and information to those working with the youngest in our communities. I am also a momma to two beautiful (and sometimes exhausting) little souls aged 8 and 9 years old. I love being outdoors, reading, and new recipes! I am sure we will get to know one another even better throughout the course of our group, but hopefully this gives you a tad of background as to what to expect from me. See you soon!

Stephan Viehweg, LCSW, ACSW, IECMH-E®, CYC-P is the Associate Director of the Indiana LEND at the IU School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics, the Associate Director of the IUPUI Center for Translating Research Into Practice, and Adjunct Professor of the IU School of Social Work. He currently serves as the CDC’s Learn the Signs. Act Early. Ambassador to Indiana and is a social work provider for the Indiana First Steps early intervention system. He is founding chair of Infancy Onward (Indiana’s association for infant
mental health), founding president of Family Voices Indiana, Treasurer of
Mental Health America of Indiana, a member of the Nominating Committee
of the Association of Social Work Boards, and serves a Governor
appointment to the Indiana Behavioral Health Professions Licensing Board.
He is co-author of Tackling the Tough Stuff: A Home Visitor’s Guide to Supporting Families at Risk.

Hello!! My name is Michelle Korty. I am super excited to work with you in
this group for early childhood professionals. I have been a social worker for the past 29 years working for the past 23 years in Southern Indiana. I have a bachelors in social work from Indiana University and a Masters in Social Work from Spalding University. Currently I work with pregnant and
parenting families in my community at a Resource Center and am a Mental
Health Consultant with Healthy Families. The best part of my current work is baby snuggles and playing with young children who come to visit us. I am currently endorsed as an Infant Mental Health Specialist and have begun working on the Infant Mental Health Mentor Clinical. I have spent the last few years working on helping my community become trauma informed and resilient. Our current work has begun to focus on how we as a community can give all our kids access to positive childhood experiences.
