  • SPARK! Using Compassion and Empathy to Diffuse School-Age Bullying Behaviors (Virtual)

SPARK! Using Compassion and Empathy to Diffuse School-Age Bullying Behaviors (Virtual)

    March 21, 2023

As school-age children go through their developmental stages, they should be learning how to read social situations, make friends, and understand their social environment. However, some school-age children will often use bullying behaviors to replace the social skills they’re supposed to develop throughout their school years. This training will focus on supporting the child exhibiting bullying behaviors by identifying the reasons that drive the behaviors, modeling how children can make amends and reconnect with their peers, and demonstrate how empathy can be built and incorporated into peer relationships to help children make lasting, positive changes.

Lakeshore®: Promoting Positive Behaviors in the Environment (Face to Face Dubois County)

    March 21, 2023

Face to Face training: Double-check the LOCATION of the session before registering!

Location - This is an IN-PERSON training! Vincennes University 850 College Ave, Jasper, IN 47546

    County- Dubois

When children have independence and leadership within the environment, they are more likely to exhibit positive behavior. Using proactive behavior assistance, allowing children to help set expectations, and holding children accountable takes intentional planning and effective facilitation on the caregiver’s part. We will look at how caregivers can become facilitators and share the day-to-day operations with the children, which in turn, frees them up so that they can take advantage of teachable moments.

This training is presented through a partnership between SPARK Learning Lab and Lakeshore®. All attendees will receive a materials kit to use with the children in your program!

Note: This is an IN-PERSON training! Ivy Tech Community College, 4801 Sirlin Drive, Fort Wayne, IN 46835

Now that we have a solid foundation with the understanding of the importance of setting up a high-quality supportive learning environment and how to develop supportive, responsive relationships with all children, we will now dive into the third tier of the pyramid model to gain a better understanding of challenging behaviors. We will discuss how to provide intensive intervention for those few children exhibiting challenging behavior and gain an understanding of why some children use challenging behavior to express wants and needs. We will practice identifying the trigger, form, and function to help the child be more successful within the environment, activity, or interactions. It is NOT required to have completed Part 1 in order to complete Part 2 of this series.

This training is presented through a partnership between SPARK Learning Lab and Lakeshore®. All attendees will receive a materials kit to use with the children in your program!

  • SPARK! Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ-3) Training (Virtual)

SPARK! Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ-3) Training (Virtual)

    March 23, 2023

The Ages & Stages Questionnaires (ASQ) provides reliable, accurate, developmental and social-emotional screening for children between birth and age 6. The ASQ has been specifically designed to identify developmental progress and spot potential delays in young children. Screening young children is an effective, efficient way for professionals to monitor a child’s development. Help parents celebrate their child’s milestones, know what to expect next, and determine whether a follow-up is needed. The ASQ is an essential first step toward identifying children with delays or disorders in the critical early years.

In this training, you will learn about the Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ-3), how to use it in your program, and how to support families with this tool.
