Now that we have a solid foundation with the understanding of the importance of setting up a high-quality supportive learning environment and how to develop supportive, responsive relationships with all children, we will now dive into the third tier of the pyramid model to gain a better understanding of challenging behaviors. We will discuss how to provide intensive intervention for those few children exhibiting challenging behavior and gain an understanding of why some children use challenging behavior to express wants and needs. We will practice identifying the trigger, form, and function to help the child be more successful within the environment, activity, or interactions.
