August 25, 26, and 27 | 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM EST
Presented by: uLead, Inc.
Audience: Frontline Staff, Directors
Goal: Discover and engage with practices to grow healthy and flexible developmental relationships with students in your context.

Learning Objectives:
• Learn four foundations for building strong developmental relationships with youth
• Practice relational skills in each foundational area to grow your relational efficacy as a youth Worker
• Create a plan of application for relationship building in your context

Webinar 1: Relationships are the core of any strong youth program. In this opening workshop we will learn a bit about why relationships are so important and look at a bit of the research and structure of what makes a “developmental relationship”, or a relationship that truly helps youth and children grow and develop mentally, emotionally, and socially. We will also begin learning about the Simple Interactions framework as way to notice our relational practices throughout our simple everyday interactions. We will start looking at the Simple Interactions Tool and their focus on developing Connection.

Webinar 2: In this session we will spend time with the final 3 dimensions of the Simple Interactions Tool: Reciprocity, Inclusion, and Opportunity to Grow. Through each dimension, we will learn a little bit about their value, but more importantly we will understand how each dimension shows up in our programming. Through interactive activities, breakout rooms, and open discussion, we will start to notice how each dimension can help children develop.

Webinar 3: Finally, in our closing session we will make the transition from learning about developmental relationships to creating a plan of practice in our own settings. We will spend some time doing “case studies” to hone our craft of noticing strong developmental relationship practices. And we will also begin the work of understanding how each one of us can create and utilize strong relationships practices with the children we work with. Through this third session, we will take away the tools needed to prioritize relationships in all of our programming.
