SPARK! Live Resource: Ball State University Scholarship Opportunity 4/4/2023

    April 4, 2023

Teachers learn to teach, at least in part, from other teachers. Are you ready to more formally share what you know with other early educators as a mentor or coach? Are you already in that role, but would like to enhance your skills in mentoring others? Are you interested in taking courses that not only earn a certificate in mentoring others, but that are also part of your Master's degree? Ball State's Department of Early Childhood, Youth, and Family Studies has an excellent opportunity available for those seeking Master's-level coursework in early childhood education. Attend this webinar to learn more about why professionals should be ready to share what they know, a bit about what it takes to mentor other teachers, and about Ball State's Early Childhood Master Teacher Certificate and scholarship funds available to pay for it.

** No certificate is awarded for attending this Live Resource.

  • SPARK! Ages & Stages Questionnaires®: An Introduction to ASQ®3 (Virtual)

SPARK! Ages & Stages Questionnaires®: An Introduction to ASQ®3 (Virtual)

    April 5, 2023

The Ages & Stages Questionnaires (ASQ) provides reliable, accurate, developmental and social-emotional screening for children between birth and age 6. The ASQ has been specifically designed to identify developmental progress and spot potential delays in young children. Screening young children is an effective, efficient way for professionals to monitor a child’s development. Help parents celebrate their child’s milestones, know what to expect next, and determine whether a follow-up is needed. The ASQ is an essential first step toward identifying children with delays or disorders in the critical early years.
In this training, you will learn about the Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ-3), how to use it in your program, and how to support families with this tool.

*Prerequisite training: Using the CDC’s Learn the Signs. Act Early.

Face to Face training: Double-check the LOCATION of the session before registering!

Now that we have a solid foundation with the understanding of the importance of setting up a high-quality supportive learning environment and how to develop supportive, responsive relationships with all children, we will now dive into the third tier of the pyramid model to gain a better understanding of challenging behaviors. We will discuss how to provide intensive intervention for those few children exhibiting challenging behavior and gain an understanding of why some children use challenging behavior to express wants and needs. We will practice identifying the trigger, form, and function to help the child be more successful within the environment, activity, or interactions. It is NOT required to have completed Part 1 in order to complete Part 2 of this series.

This training is presented through a partnership between SPARK Learning Lab and Lakeshore®. A meal will be served, and all attendees will receive a materials kit to use with the children in your program!
